Spring Into Feeling Better in Your Home

Design Inspiration

We have all been in our homes a lot more this past year. You may realize that your house just doesn’t ‘feel’ right to you.

Decorating your home is more than a matter of color or type of furniture, flooring, or accessorizing, or arranging. Decorating is about breathing personality into your house. Your space should communicate.

What does your decorating say to you? What does it say about you to others? At Decorating Den Interiors, we believe that your home should reflect your taste and personality.

Start with balance.

After a day of juggling your “to do” list and Zoom calls, can you walk into a particular room and regain a sense of balance? If it’s off balance, it will more likely feel uneasy. It will remind you of your busy day; not slow you down and refresh you.

Balance doesn’t mean a room has to be symmetrical or formal. Balance can come from an asymmetrical or more informal arrangement. You can group objects of unequal size and bring them into balance by placing them farther away from the room’s focal point.

St. John Professional Interior Decorator DesignerThe placement of the wall art and the furniture in the room below makes for an asymmetrical balance to complement the brick fireplace set to the side of the wall. The mirror gives a bonus appeal by reflecting the greenery.

There are many other ways to use decorating to create a space that makes you feel better

Greenery: Nothing can add so much for so little as greenery. Most people love plants and flowers and nature around them. However, they often forget to incorporate them into interior design. We don’t give them enough credit for being a decorative accent—even if they are artificial. Plants bring LIFE into a space. They cheer up a room and humanize it by adding nature’s own colors. Greenery, plants, and flowers add a little Spring to any space …especially after a long cold Winter.

Space: With our current challenges, you may often be feeling closed in and wishing for some breathing space. Lighten up a room for Spring with de-cluttering and riding the space of unnecessary items. Rearranging a few pieces may save space and you’ll feel like you’re in a NEW room. Mirrors reflect light and can make a room appear larger.
Enhance a small window with stationary side panels that create the illusion of more space by extending that window treatment further than the window itself That Special Feel…. Every client and homeowner have a different ‘Feel’ that they want to create in their home. When working with Decorating Den Interiors and the Lloyd Design team, communication is key to good design that works for you and your family. We ask our clients to describe the experience and ‘feel’ they want for that special space. We LOVE helping our clients create the room of their dreams.
